KANSAS CITY, MO–Kansas City’s 113th American Royal Livestock Show is scheduled for October 24 through November 4, 2012. Junior Market Shows will highlight the first weekend with the Junior Premium Auction climaxing those activities on Sunday, October 28.

A full slate of breeding cattle shows sponsored by their respective national and/or state associations are the backbone of the American Royal and are scheduled throughout the run of the show. Several breeds have sales planned in conjunction with the American Royal as well.

A new, open to the world, feeder calf show for steers and heifers has been added to the lineup. There is no sale with this show. It will feature single entries of 2012 born prospects.

The Supreme Junior Heifer Show headlines the show on Sunday, November 4. This is the Stanley Stout Scholarship Program that features the competition of all the breed champions from the junior show.

The Boer Goats will take over the Governors Hall with two ABGA sanctioned point shows on October 30 and 31. The Royal Premier Show is on Tuesday and the Royal Classic Show is on Wednesday.

In keeping with the American Royal Mission, “to provide scholarships, education, awards and competitive learning experiences that rewards hard work, leadership skills and agrarian values”, there is special emphasis on the judging contests. In 2012 there will be a full slate of livestock, meats and crops contests for 4-H, FFA and collegiate contestants.
